  2. Thanks a lot for this,
I've just purchased MudBox and really want to know how to get the right effect and how best to use each tool. Do you think you will be doing others? I'd like to see a destroyed concrete barricade.

    Thankyou,
    Myles Lambert

  3. Awesome tut, i prob dont have much right to speak here as im only in my second Graphical Design school year but i finished my study in wood techniques before this (buildings, calculating, milling, everything wood related in the industry)

and i would like to point out that the grain on the plank itself is wrong (the long side), not that it matters much as almost no one would just try to find erros in a plank ingame but i just wanted to point it out.

The way the grain runs on the front side of the plank is called tangential grain/sawn.
This would show as a more flame like pattern in the grain on the long side.

there are some other things that would happen with a tangential plank, like bending outwards (away from the core) as the grain tries to straighten itself once its cut, this would result in more cracks on the inside (tree core side) then on the outside of the wood.

But now im nitpicking, im sorry if i annoy someone with this, just wanted to point that out incase anyone would be interested as wood kinda is my thing ^^

ref for anyone interested or to know where the hell im talking about

  4. thx for pointing that out davey, extremly helpful grafics! actually i was aware of the first fact, but too lazy to point it out in the vid. ;) but i totally disregarded the second fact and it's absolutely worthy to think about it! in the end every single detail in prop design is very important to achieve a most believable look. so thank you VERY much for your observations!

  5. Great tutorials Sascha. Would it be possible that you would describe your workflow of making buildings(like in gothic 3). I have had allways problems making such things. It does not need to be the whole process. You could make something like you did here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B_SnQXf-Vg

Just replace the plant with a medieval building :) I would even give you a donation for something like this :)
